John,
If software prevents it from removing timing at idle why was I experiencing multiple lights at idle? Is it possible there is something wrong with the unit?
I do have it set to retard individual cylinders.
I was alarmed not by the fact that it was detecting knock( although it shouldn't because the motor is currently stock) but the rate at which the lights were flashing. I have NEVER seen the knock monitor flash so fast and move so quickly. It wasn't doing the normal flashing it does when removing timing. It was jumping around and flashing as fast as the AF meter does. That just doesn't sound right. Should I send it in for inspection/repair?
Thanks for the quick response John. Post or email your number so I can call you this week.

I have the J&S knock sensor with dual monitor on my civic. Last night on the freeway it started freaking out. The AF meter works fine but the knock monitor went crazy. I saw multiple lights all over the knock monitor moving so fast, almost as fast as the AF meter in closed loop. It went out about 6-7 lights. What was weird is that I don't think it was taking out any timing because I didn't notice a decrease in power.
I was driving in fourth gear when I noticed it at about 4000 rpm. When I shifted to 5th it disappeared temporarily. Then it started freaking out again later only not as bad. This time I was idling at a stoplight.
The sensitivity is at about 9 o'clock.
Has anybody seen or experienced anything like this? I'll give J&S a call this week but I thought I'd get some input.

Marc: Software prevents the unit from retarding below 1250 RPM. The other events sound like it may have been detecting something. More than one LED on at a time is normal if switch #2 is down. It is hard to tell if it's retarding in the individual cylinder retard mode.
